~Early Rocking Horse~

Happy Wednesday!!!!  Can you believe that we are already halfway through the week.  It seems when we take Monday out of the equation, the week seems to fly by even faster.  Maybe we should always take Monday off...LOL!

I am so excited to do this post today.  I have been wanting an early rocking horse for almost ten years now and I really thought I would never own one.  I told Stacee Droit of Arnett's Country Store that I wanted one and she told me that she would look for one for me.  Well, a few weeks ago, she found one for me in Pennsylvania.  She sent me a picture of it and the minute I saw it, I knew that it was mine.  The pictures did not do it justice.  It is wonderful.  Stacee said that it is probably from the early 1800s!  Can you imagine that?!?  I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures of my pride and joy...don't tell Jeff.  He thinks he is my pride and joy...LOL!  = )

I just love the old rocking horses and I love mine to pieces!

Just the thought of some child, from way back then riding on it, puts a smile on my face.

Lucky you!

Well, looks like we have yet another part of our spirits that are kindred. I, too, have always wanted one of these horses - and am beginning to think I will never own one. I did find one (locally believe it or not) - and it looks almost identical to yours....I believe they are called "trug" horses because of their furniture like legs?? In any event, it is WAY out of my price range (even if I could find a spot large enough in my home to accommodate the large rocking base....) I would be very curious as to what you paid for yours....truly, I'm not being "nosey" - but a friend of mine who saw the one I am looking at (and who knows a thing or two about old rocking horses) said it was very, very high. Now I don't know what to think....I know much depends on location - and they aren't plentiful in these parts, but since you're not that far from me, I'd be grateful if you shared the info (even ball park-ish....) Congrats, in any event, on a beautiful new treasure.....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

I am so jealous! I LOVE it! I love you have it displayed, also. Perfect!
Your Winnie the Poo quote is wonderful. I love it enough that I have decided to stitch it onto a pillow that will look perfect on our bed.

Blessings,
Julie

This is an awesome piece Dan. I have an early glider horse, but also have my eye on an early pull toy that is almost 3ft tall. These rockers, glider and pull horses are getting so hard to find. You scored big time and it fits perfectly in your decor. I am so jealous. ;0) Janice
