~It's Summer Once More~

Well, yesterday was the last official day of school for the 2011-2012 school year.  There really is no other feeling like the last day of school.  The year is behind me and the entire summer is before me.

To me, the first day of summer break is the best. The possibilities are endless and every carefree day is before me. As always, I have several projects that I would like to complete this summer.  Make sure you keep checking back to see what is going on around here. = )

In honor of the first day of summer vacation, I gave my door box the summer treatment.  This is how it turned out.

I added geraniums, twigs, and three flags with 13 stars on them.  I got the geraniums and flags from The Olde Homestead in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  The twigs came from the yard! = )

I am really happy with how it turned out and it definitely put me in a summertime mood.

~ A Little Rearranging Once More~

You all know how much I like to tweak my collections.  Well, I got the opportunity to do a little tweaking lately and I am really pleased with everything I did.

This first bit of tweaking occurred when I went to one of my favorite primitive stores, The Olde Homestead in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  I found a wonderful tin light and decided to create a little reading nook in the music room.  I am really happy with how it turned out.

In addition to the lamp, I place a tea cup, one of the samplers I made, and an old book.

We also replaced the lights in the dining room a couple of weekends ago. This was the last room that we needed to change the light fixtures in.  Now all of the lights in our house fit in better with my primitive/Colonial style.  I ordered the lights from Country Store of Geneva.  I have ordered all of my lights from there and I have been very happy with them.

We also changed the light above the front door.  It matches the one that is above the dining room table only it is smaller.

~New Stitcheries~

I know that I have been gone for a long time, but time has just gotten away from me lately.  The end of the school year is a busy time and the weeks seem to fly by.

I have started making stitcheries and I am really happy with how they are turning out.  I designed them on paper and then use a light box to transfer the pattern onto the material before I stitch them.

Let me know what you think!
