~A Chair is Still a Chair~

On Friday, Jeff took the day off to spend one of the days of my spring break with me. We decided to go to some antique shops. We were looking around and I looked into one booth and could not believe my eyes. There in the booth was this chair...

I, of course, liked it instantly. When I looked at the price, I liked it even more. We paid $101.00 including tax!

The legs were in pretty bad shape so I decided to paint them. I chose to paint them black (I am sure you are really surprised by that decision...LOL).

I decided to put the chair in the master bedroom. I added a pillow, a basket, and an old milking stool to use as a footstool.

I think it looks very similar to a Johnston Benchworks chair for a fraction of the cost.

I love it and I am very excited about finding it! It was the perfect way to end my spring break.

Thank you for visiting Yesterday Once More. I appreciate you stopping by and I hope you will come back as often as you can. Don't forget that Yesterday Once More is now on Facebook. I would love it if you would stop by there too. Always remember, "Goodness is the only investment that never fails."

All My Best,
~Dan~

Dan, you are my best inspiration for decorating! Love your new chair! May I ask, the sofa pictured with the chair, it looks like it is small red check? I will be purchasing some furniture soon and am seriously looking at a check like that. I was wondering what fabric I could mix with it as I'm looking at chairs similar to your. I'm visual, need to see how it looks so your room is a big help to me! Thanks for sharing!

Nice score Dan! How did you keep paint from getting on the chair fabric? Didyou spray paint or hand paint the legs?

I have a wingback chair that has light colored legs and everything else in the room is dark. Since the fabric on the chair is in excellent condition, I can't see removing it to refinishing the legs and then reupolstering the chair again. Too muuch trouble and expense. What do you suggest? Tape?~Ames

Hey Dan,
GREAT FIND!

The chair looks great! I got two of them a couple of years ago for $40 for the pair, they are covered in 80's wedgewood/rose plaid, I have lived with them for this long waiting to be able to get them recovered. I got a new pneumatic stapler for Christmas this year, so now just got to get the fabric and they are as good as new!

The rest of the room looks great too! Thanks for sharing your treasure!
Hugs,
Kerri

Why is it that I am never able to run across something like this! Wow, I have been looking for chairs like that for years now. Mind you, I won't pay the price for Johnstons, especially because I have heard so many stories of them being uncomfortable. I love the look but need the comfort!! What a GREAT deal and I love the painted black legs!!
