Searchin' for Firkins

Hey Everyone! The mailman has still not delivered the second surprise, but in the meantime, I have been doing some shopping. Summer is a good time for the local antique stores, but a bad time for my checkbook.

I have been searching and searching for firkins or sugar buckets for at least a year now. They are very hard to find in this area, and until last week I had only seen two before and they were very expensive. Last Friday I was shopping and I came across this little guy. The price was right so I scooped it up.

Then on Saturday, Jeff and I went shopping and I came across this one. I couldn't believe that I had found two in one weekend. I had to have it, so I got it!

Then on the same day, we went to another store and there in the window was the mother load of firkins! I could not believe my eyes. I looked and looked at them in amazement. The guy told us if we bought them all he would give us a really good deal. So...guess what...I got them!!! I am so excited about them. I put them in the upstairs kitchen and I think they look great.

What do you think???

Thank you for visiting Yesterday Once More. I hope that you will come back as often as you can. Never forget that if you are searching for happiness, look within yourself first. You can never be completely happy until you are happy with yourself.

My Best to You Always,
~Dan~

Okay Dan...we must live parallel lifes. I too have decided to start collecting firkins this summer. I am fortunate enough to live in an area where you can find a lot of them, but at a very high price. However, I stopped at a garage sale a few days ago and there sat a stack of 3 firkins (one dated 1910)for 10 bucks! So now my collection is up to 5. However, what a great find you came across!

Dan honey you are just too much. I came by to say thank you for your sweet comment and to see of course what else the mailman brought instead I find you bought out your town. How funny to find such great deals all at the same time.
Kirsty comment is toooo funny I loves these but like her I did not know that was what they were called firkens. Won't tell you what I thought they were called. lol
I am hanging in there and trying to think positive because yes we have a kitchen to tweak.
